ABC’s handheld POS software is designed to allow tableside entry and processing of F&B orders. Running in real-time on wireless networks, it can also be used to enter orders in remote locations (such as a golf course beverage cart) to the extent that wireless connectivity is available. Running under Microsoft’s PocketPC or WindowsCE operating systems, it is a capable tool designed to enhance speed of service while tightening operational controls.
Order entry, transmission to kitchen/service bar and check/receipt printing take place tableside, eliminating double entry of the order from a notepad to a computer terminal. Due to real-time prompting, this not only cuts the server’s ordering efforts in half, but also eliminates transcription errors, incomplete preparation instructions and falsely taking orders for items with limited item availability. Server travel and wait time from tableside to a POS terminal are gone.
Servers can now spend more time in their assigned service area and, thus, provide better service, resulting in the strong possibility of additional sales.
